History

Perras Companies is a third generation, family owned business. In 2019, Perras Companies celebrated 65 years in business.


1954

Perras Excavating, Inc. was established by Leon and Arthur Perras. The company immediately went to work as a subcontractor on the St. Lawrence Project. This project was the construction of a system of locks, canals, and channels in Canada and the United States that permits oceangoing vessels to travel from the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes of North America.


1986

The company was purchased by Artie Perras and Wayne Tyo.


1990

Perras Environmental Control, Inc. was formed, with a focus on industrial clean ups. This was significant to the future success of Perras Companies.


2002

Perras Construction Services, Inc. was started, opening another window of opportunity for the company. This diversity has given Perras Companies additional control of project schedules and costs.


2007

Wayne Tyo’s sons, Jeffrey and Mark Tyo purchased the company and have continued expanding, they added on mechanical and electrical divisions to Perras Construction Services, Inc. These services continue to add to the full service construction company we are today with yearly gross revenues of 30 to 50 million dollars.

Perras has built their business on honesty and integrity, through problem solving and open communication with clients, partners, and subcontractors. Together, our companies will work to uphold the excellent reputation built throughout 65 years serving Northern New York.
